Who We Are:

The Modern Classrooms Project is a fast-growing 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that empowers educators to build classrooms that respond to every student’s needs. Founded by two award-winning teachers, we lead a movement of educators in implementing a differentiated, mastery-based instructional model that leverages technology to foster human connection, authentic learning, and social-emotional growth.

To date, our free online course and structured training programs have empowered almost 100,000 educators nationwide and globally. We’ve partnered with schools and districts nationwide to train and support both teachers and administrators, and researchers from Johns Hopkins University found “overwhelming positive support” for our approach. We are an ambitious, idealistic team and we are passionate about what we do.

Job Description - Why we need you!

Two years ago, we made a focused bet on math, because math is where this model does some of its best work. Mastery is how the subject is learned: one idea solid before the next. To continue the work we’ve begun, we need to build the right mix of content, technology, and implementation services to strengthen middle school math instruction, improve outcomes for students, and make teaching a more sustainable profession.

That’s where you come in. Great instruction only matters if teachers and schools can actually use it. You’ll own how MCP math resources become a product educators and school systems can use: aligned to the standards of individual states, accessible to every learner, strengthened by the right assessments, and brought to life through video. Do it well, and your work won’t live in a single classroom. It’ll reach hundreds of thousands of students.

Key Responsibilities - What you'll do:

As VP of Math Content Production, you will own how our middle school math content is produced. You will report to the President. You’ll lead the functions that turn great math content into something educators and school systems can actually use, and build the team and systems behind that work.

You will:

  • Own alignment to state standards. Map math content to specific standards and expectations of the individual states we work in and build the process that maintains alignment as the content grows and the standards change. This is one of the most important things you will own.
  • Oversee assessment. Own the creation of mastery checks, ensuring alignment of mastery checks, unit assessments, and state EOY assessments. Ensure predictive validity.
  • Own accessibility and universal design. Make sure every student can access the materials; build accessibility into the production process from the start instead of bolting it on at the end.
  • Oversee video production. Own how MCP instructional videos get made, setting the quality bar and the production process behind them.
  • Build the production engine. Stand up the systems and the team that turn lessons into a set of resources that teachers experience as a polished, usable product. Hire and lead experts across each function, and build repeatable processes rather than relying on heroics.
  • Make it adoptable. Ensure the end result is something schools and districts can actually put into classrooms: packaged, supported, and ready to use.
  • Partner with engineering and product. Work with engineering on the platform and tools that power production and delivery.

You should apply if:

  • You know what makes math instruction work. This is a prerequisite, not a nice-to-have: you've either taught math at a high level or built strong math instruction yourself, you can tell good math teaching from bad, and you can hold your own with expert math educators.

  • You’ve led content production, and you’ve shipped. You’ve run the operation that turns instructional design into finished, usable materials, and you know what it takes to do it at a high bar.

  • You know state standards and alignment cold. You understand how state math standards differ and what it takes to align math content to them, ideally across many states.

  • You can lead assessment, accessibility, and video, even if you didn’t start in all three. You’ve gone deep in at least one, and you can set the bar and hire the experts for the rest.

  • You build teams and systems. You’ve hired, structured, and led cross-functional teams, and you turn messy creative work into repeatable process.

  • You are AI-native, or eager to be. You’re excited to use AI to make production faster and better, with the judgment to hold the quality bar while you do.

  • You are self-directed. You thrive in small, high-autonomy teams where the surface area is broad and the context shifts constantly. You write clearly and own a problem end to end without waiting to be told what to do next.

  • You love to learn. You’re actively following developments in both education and AI, and applying them to your own and others’ work. You’re motivated by MCP’s mission and eager to build something teachers and students rely on.
