Director of Educator Support

Salary: $110,000 - $130,000 per year, plus benefits

The Modern Classrooms Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that empowers educators to build classrooms that respond to every student’s needs. Founded by two award-winning teachers, we lead a movement of educators in implementing a self-paced, mastery-based instructional model that leverages technology to foster human connection, authentic learning, and social-emotional growth.
To date, we have reached over 85,000 teachers through our free online course and 18,000+ teachers through our Virtual Mentorship Program from over 200 school, district, and state partners. We are an ambitious, idealistic team led by former classroom teachers, and we are passionate about what we do.
Job Description:
We are seeking a Director of Educator Support to elevate the quality and consistency of educator support in MCP’s curriculum-embedded math solution. Reporting to the VP of Educator Support, this people leader will join a team of passionate instructional and math nerds dedicated to teachers and to making success in math possible for every student. The Director of Educator Support will manage three to five Educator Support Managers, coach and develop a team of professional development trainers, establish mentoring calibration and reflection cycles, and create PD and instructional support playbooks that raise performance across the team.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Manage a team of three to five direct-reports initially then manage additional managers as our team grows; lead weekly 1:1s and complete yearly performance reviews; shadow/spot-check work; monitor dashboards and goal progress; provide timely recognition and redirection.
- Build team capacity for training and mentoring through observation and coaching; foster an inclusive, feedback-rich culture grounded in actionable feedback; run calibration and reflection cycles.
- Design and deliver best-in-class PD; build protocols for facilitation.
- Lead high-fidelity classroom walkthroughs; co-walk with school leaders and staff.
- Track goals and report regularly.
- Complete administrative tasks as assigned.
- Travel up to 60% of the time to support educators and partners
Must-Have Skills and Competencies
- 7–10+ years instructional leadership; track record coaching coaches.
- Master PD designer and facilitator.
- Exceptional classroom observation and feedback chops; credible with school leaders.
- Goals-oriented with a high degree of initiative and independence, ready to add immediate value.
- Proven people manager.
- Strong communication skills across mediums including public speaking, presentations, writing, virtual calls, and in one-on-one interactions with educators.
- Excellent relationship-building skills, including listening, problem-solving, and following through on commitments.
- Exceptional organizational skills and record of managing a high volume of tasks, meeting deadlines, and fulfilling work obligations.
- Partner cross-functionally to translate programs into mentor-ready, scalable practices.
- Adaptability to work in a start-up environment, including readiness for remote, independent work, ability to hold ambiguity, and embodied flexibility to meet the needs of a growing organization.
Preferred Experiences
- Experience utilizing the Modern Classrooms Project instructional model as an educator or instructional leader
- Experience teaching or coaching math using Illustrative Mathematics or Eureka Math2 in grades three through twelve
- Experience with Asana, Slack, and Google Workspace, and Salesforce (or similar CRM)
- At least two years of management experience, specifically supporting high-growth teams, delivery professional development & training.
